Juniors conquer the courts

Young aces play in Benoni.

The Gauteng East Spring, a junior tennis tournament for players under the age of 18 years old, was held at the Gauteng East Tennis Headquarters, at the Benoni Lake over the weekend.

Over 120 junior tennis players from Central Gauteng, Gauteng North and Gauteng East competed in the various age groups.

According to Gauteng East Tennis chairman, Ken Smith, the tournament was successful and was well organised by Gauteng East and Tennis South Africa.

The singles results from the Gauteng East Spring are:

  • Girls’ u-10: 1 Pippa Bosman, 2 Tiana Philippides.
  • Boys’ u-10: 1 Daniel Crowie, 2 Jayden Pakkiri.
  • Girls’ u-12: 1 Princess Tsiang, 2 Aimee Caplan.
  • Boys’ u-12: 1 Chrisjan Louw van Wyk, 2 Chando Hollinrake.
  • Boys’ u-14 Platinum: 1 Andrew Freel, 2 Nhlanhla Dlamini.
  • Boys’ u-14 Gold: 1 Zander Dela Guerra, 2 Corne Beneke.
  • Girls’ u-14: 1 Liezel Muller, 2 Stephanie Pel.
  • Boys’ u-18 Platinum: 1 Dickson Sibanda, 2 Ayanda Sibanda.
  • Boys’ u-18 Gold: 1 Hanjo Minnaar, 2 Dino Harrison.
  • Girls’ u-18: 1 Monjah Holtzhauzen, 2 Lesshika Vala.
