Indians hold firm to defeat arch-rivals
Benoni Northerns Indians Ball Club’s Major A baseball team welcomed arch-rivals Boksburg Cardinals to Benoni, on Sunday, February 8, where an epic battle ensued.
Indians head coach Ashley Scott described the clash as “the best game of the season so far” and praised his team for an excellent performance and superb comeback on Sunday.
Trailing throughout the game, the Indian batters came back nicely in the ninth innings to secure an 8-7 victory that will live long in the memory.
Scott praised pitcher and man-of-the-match Kyle Gaddin for his terrific display.
Gaddin threw the full nine innings and batted well, too.
“There were a couple of errors in the field from the guys, so we have to work on that aspect, however, our hitting was a lot better.
“We haven’t beaten them [Cardinals] in two years, so it was great to get the win,” added the coach.
