Actonville end season with a win

Actonville Spurs Cricket Club’s (ASCC) 2014/2015 Eastern Premier League campaign came to a conclusion with a 138-run victory, in their final encounter of the season against Springs Old Boys.

The match, played at ASCC’s Lord’s Cricket Grounds, became a relatively easy day at the office for skipper Clayton August’s side, despite a slight hiccough with the bat early on when Actonville were 45/2 after winning the toss.

A good partnership from August (31) and Charl Prinsloo (65) helped steer the hosts to a first innings total of 213/9 in their 50-overs.

Old Boys, a team which has suffered major problems this season due to an exodus of good players from the club, endured more misery and could only field 10 players in Actonville.

Their sad state of affairs was further extended when they were taken to the cleaners by the Actonville bowlers as the team was bowled out for a mere 75 runs within the 32nd over.

Xolile Nkomo achieved excellent figures of 3/4 in 5.4 overs while Calvin Ntombela also bagged three Springs scalps with statistics of 3/31 in his allotted 10 overs.
