Northerns get the points in Katlehong

Benoni Northerns Football Club’s (BNFC) first XI welcomed back a familiar face to their fold this week for their clash against Zwide United at Huntersfield Stadium in Katlehong on Saturday, June 24.

Goal-scoring forward Brogan Shrimpton, who has been plying his trade at Davenport University in the USA, returned to the mix with the BNFC reserves and featured as a second-half substitution for coach Jannie van den Berg’s first XI in the Eastern Local Football Association (ELFA) Super League encounter.

Shrimpton, together with Kwanda Sokutu and youngster Marlon Mouton (a brace), got their names on the scoresheet in a 4-1 victory.

“It’s that time of the season where we need to grind every result out,” said van den Berg.

“To get the three points away from home is never easy, but we played well and did the job.”

The club’s reserve side also left Katlehong with three points in the bag.

They defeated Zwide 6-1 on Saturday.

Both teams will be in action this Saturday (July 1) when they host Kempton Park at Northern Areas.

Kick-off is at 1.45pm for the reserves and 3.30pm for the first XIs.
