Blind bowlers see success
Benoni’s blind bowlers Beppie Summersgill (Airfield) and May Homer (Northmead) recently competed at the 2017 South African Disability Bowls National Championships on the West Rand and enjoyed some success.
The duo partnered up in the B3 (partially sighted) mixed pairs category, much to the concern of Summersgill who usually competes in the B1 (totally blind) categories.
Her worries were unnecessary though as she held her own with Homer to achieve a silver medal.
The former also earned silver in the B1 women’s singles category while Homer bagged bronze in the B3 women’s singles category.
