Aches and pains all worth it for BNAC’s walkers

The walkers from Benoni Northerns Athletic Club (BNAC) held their annual Aches and Pains party at the club on the night of Thursday, October 5.

Anne Reynolds, captain of BNAC’s walking section, said the walkers continued with league races this year and have done well, sitting in third place in the league.

“Unfortunately, this year saw only three of our walkers going down to do the Blood Buddy Memel to Newcastle 50km Race,” said Reynolds.

“It is my hope that we will have a greater presence in Memel/Newcastle this coming year.”

The following awards were handed out on the evening:

Golden Oldie Award: Roger Glover.

Most Improved Walker: Agnes Kirsch.

Aches and Pains Awards: Pierre Bezuidenhout, Sidwell Mhlongo and Stephen Msimango. Msimango completed the Memel to Newcastle 50km Race in a time of six hours and 41 minutes. He was the fourth man home. Mhlongo was the sixth man home at the Memel to Newcastle 50km Race in a time of seven hours and four minutes. Bezuidenhout finished the race in eight hours and 38 minutes.

Walkers’ Walker Award: Hazel Glover.
