Actonville Spurs give Tembisa a thrashing at Willowmoore Park

Actonville Spurs handed out a hiding to Tembisa.

March 18 seemed to be a bad day for batting in Benoni in the Eastern Premier League One competition.

Benoni Northerns Cricket Club performed a 21-run demolition job over Bedfordview, while Benoni neighbours Actonville Spurs Cricket Club (ASCC) also ran riot with the ball on Sunday, when they played Tembisa at Willowmoore Park’s B-Field.

Bowling first, ASCC’s bowlers were superb.

Spinner Wilber van Dyk was excellent, bagging incredible figures of 4/3 in 2.2 overs, while Sinenhlanhla Zwane, Devon Botha and Xolile Nkomo achieved two wickets each as they wrapped up Tembisa for a lowly 57 in 23.2 overs.

In reply, Actonville lost just one wicket to ensure a nine-wicket, bonus-point win.

They were scheduled to play Alberton at Lords Cricket Grounds on March 21 followed by a clash with CBC Old Boys in Boksburg on March 25.
