Colourful explosions in Benoni as the Color Run returns to Northerns
It was a colourful affair.
The organisers of the world-renowned Color Run have dubbed their event series as the ‘Happiest 5k on the planet’ and if the broad grins on the faces of the people who participated in the event on May 20 at the Benoni Northerns Sports Club are anything to go by their claim rings true.
The Color Run is a 5km, untimed event in which thousands of participants, or Color Runners, are doused from head to toe in different colours at each kilometre.
With only two rules, the idea is easy to follow: Wear white at the start line and finish plastered in colour.
After Color Runners complete the race, the fun continues with a Finish Festival.
This party is equipped with music, dancing and massive colour throws, which create millions of vivid colour combinations.
The event came to Benoni for the second year, this time bringing their carnival-themed event, with the route moving through the streets of Rynfield and using most of the sports club’s facilities.
Members from Benoni Northerns’ various sporting sub-sections ensured all participants were properly covered in coloured powder as they manned the colour stations on the route.
The next Gauteng event moves to the Pretoria Rugby Club in Groenkloof, Pretoria, on July 21.
