Respect shown to Benoni Northerns Athletic Club’s 2018 Comrades Green Number runners

Respect for comrades athletes

To participate in and finish just one Comrades Marathon is a bucket list item for many aspirant road runners, however, once the so-called ‘running bug’ bites it becomes more and more difficult to stop at just one Comrades finish.

Just have a chat to Benoni Northerns Athletic Club’s (BNAC) Lebogang Mokoana, Eric Ladbrooke, Selvan Naidoo or Louise Visser who were paid homage at the club’s annual Green Number Function held at the club on September 26.

Mokoana and Ladbrooke joined the illustrious Green Number Club (for finishing 10 Comrades Marathons) while Naidoo and Visser became members of the prestigious Double Green Number Club (for finishing 20 Comrades Marathons) when they arrived at the Comrades finish line at Moses Mabhida Stadium on June 10.

Visser became the first woman in the history of BNAC to achieve a Double Green number.

As has become tradition, the club emblazoned the names of these superb Comrades athletes on the club Green Number honour’s board.
