Prizes aplenty for ‘Cheese and Tomato’ athletes
The stars of 2018 were acknowledged on the night.
Benoni Northerns Athletic Club (BNAC), known as the ‘Cheese and Tomato’ in running circles due to their easily identifiable yellow and red kit, held their annual prize-giving and year-end function at the main club hall at Benoni Northerns Sports Club on November 24.
Club chairman John Ansell announced the award winners on the night.

• Comrades recognition awards:

First grandmaster male: Derek Wright
First master female: Bettina Settembrini
First master male: Dieter Stapel
First veteran female: Tracy Triegaardt
First veteran male: Sanyana Bhuda
Third female: Tracy Triegaardt
Second female: Lauren Fisher
First female: Melinda Jansen van Vuuren
Third male: Dieter Stapel
Second male: Michael Pappas
First male and first BNAC member: Sanyana Bhuda
Oldest Comrades finisher: Norman Milne
Youngest Comrades finisher: Melinda Jansen van Vuuren.
