Great start to the year for BCC junior Ryan van Velzen
What a start for the local lad.
Benoni Country Club’s Ryan van Velzen opened his 2019 golfing calendar at the ERPM Golf Club in Boksburg on February 3 in the best possible way.
Van Velzen, competing at the Ekurhuleni Golf Union’s (EGU) season opener, the EGU Closed 36-hole tournament, carded a first round 65 gross score to take a five-shot lead into the second round which was stopped due to heavy rains.
The tournament then reverted to an 18-hole event giving van Velzen the win.
Fellow BCC member Warwick Purchase finish tied third on 71 gross.
