EGU achievers honoured
The proceedings kicked off with the 2019 Quadrangular awards, awarded to players who played in a number of quadrangular tournaments.
The Ekurhuleni Golf Union (EGU) held its junior prize-giving at Benoni Lake Club recently.
A warm welcome was given to Jan Kruger, second vice president, who handed out the awards.
The proceedings kicked off with the 2019 Quadrangular awards, awarded to players who played in a number of quadrangular tournaments.
The winners were:
• U-13s: Mathias Frey, Walter Green, Marno Lange, Josh Plaatjies and Jaydon van Breda and Willem Lotriet.
• U-15s: Corné Jansen, Filip Sakota, Schalk van Wyk, Matthew Smit and Ian van Rhyn.
• U-17s: Ryan Crawford, Calvin Mahlangu, Justin Smith, Sean Tsipa, John William Blomerus, Ruan de Bruin, Marco Gouveia and Middel.
• U-19s: Grant Ferreira, Gareth Matthysen, Deacon Rudolph, Jonathan Bagnall, Justin Bester and Carel Tromp.
Up next were the girls u-19. Unfortunately, on two occasions, their quadrangular dates clashed with other women’s/junior tournaments and they always encouraged their girls to give those tournaments preference. Nonetheless, the EGU was proud to award Tayla Howroyd, Paola Sakota, Tyra Skinner and Nicole Strydom for having played in two quadrangular tournaments during the year.
• Quadrangular Team of the Year (team which won multiple gold medals) were the under-13s – Marno Lange, Jaydon van Breda, Mathias Frey, Walter Green, Josh Plaatjies and Willem Lotriet.
