Northerns games against Robertsham

The next league match was an away game on April 17 at the Italian Club against Olympia FC.

On April 10, the Benoni Northerns Football first team and reserves took on their opposition Robertsham at Northerns home ground, with the first team winning 2-0 and the reserves losing with a final score of 2-3 to Robertsham Reserves.

Very few Northerns teams have managed to take on any Robertsham teams and win, but the Northerns first team show some flames as they claimed victory.

“A fantastic weekend was had by all,” said coach Enrique Juanas-Uriola.

“A big thank you to all our members and supporters for coming out to share a special day.”

According to Juanas-Uriola, the reserve team did not play to their true potential.

“In all fairness, we had some key players out due to injury and we missed their experience, but the youngsters learned a lot from the defeat, which will hopefully hold us in good stead going forward.

“We remain second in the league and will continue to work hard at training and grow as a team.”

According to their coach, the first team played exceptionally well under the circumstances.

“Not many Northerns teams have beaten the mighty Robertsham in the past, but, against all odds, we made it happen.”

Another commodity that makes their victory even more pleasurable is that one of the Northerns players was sent off for two yellow cards.

“We had to play with 10 men for the last 35 min and we rode our luck, delivering when it counted most. The 2-0 score takes us to the top of the league,” he concluded.
