Local academy loses last game before lockdown

They did, however, win their previous match against Rietvlei Soccer Club with a whopping 5-2.

The women’s team of the German International Academy, based in Farrarmere, played their last league football match recently as part of the Ekurhuleni Women’s Regional League.

This was before the suspension of all sports, as per Safa and the Covid-19 regulations.

These women fought a highly contested match against Motshana FC with many exhilarating moments and although the team gave it their all, they, unfortunately, couldn’t bag the three points. They lost 5-3.

They did, however, win their previous match against Rietvlei Soccer Club 5-2.

“The Academy is very proud of the ladies and how far they have come,” said Shannon Butcher, German International Academy media marketing manager.

“We look forward to seeing what they can do when all sports resume, hopefully in the near future.”
