Spurs CC outclass Duduza

The premier team won by 22 runs while the reserve side claimed a five-wicket win.

The Actonville Spurs Cricket Club beat Duduza by 22 runs to win their premier division match on February 13 at Lords Cricket Ground in Actonville.

Spurs won the toss and elected to bat. They were dismissed for 159 all out in 32 overs with Irfan Hansrod and Sabelo Mabanga top scoring with 48 and 38 runs, respectively.

Chasing 160 for a win, Duduza couldn’t withstand the bowling firepower of Wilber van Dyk and Niel Joubert who ended with three scalps apiece. Zubir Turky also chipped in with two wickets.

Duduza were eventually dismissed for 137 all after 38 overs, losing by 22 runs.

The Actonville reserve side also beat Duduza by five wickets. Chasing 170 to win, Sajid Akhalwaya and Mohammed Doodha top scored with 45 and 35 respectively to guide the team to victory.

Akhalwaya picked up four wickets while Doodha and Ahmed Dabhelia took two wickets each.

Actonville’s Zunaid Seedat said they are building a young team that is slowly gaining the experience needed to compete.
