Northerns to begin pre-season training in early January

Pre-season training will begin on January 9.

The Benoni Northerns Rugby Club has announced that preparations for the upcoming season will begin early next month.

The club will begin with pre-season training on January 9 at its headquarters on 1 Brodigan Street in Northmead.

The new season will see fresh faces in the coaching department as Ruan Botha and Nico Smuts are set to take over as the U21 coaches.

Leon van Rooyen and Panda van Loggerenberg will continue as the first team coaches and Martin Venter and Malcolm Taylor, who led the second team to the final of the Valke Merlin Cup last season, will remain in charge of the team.

Northerns will also compete in the President’s cup, which has been added to the calendar by the Valke Rugby Union. The cup will be contested by all clubs under the union.
