Northerns unbeaten in T20 competition

Vaughn Humphrey has scored 238 runs at an average of 79.33 so far in the competition.

Benoni Northerns Cricket Club claimed two crucial wins over local rivals Old Bens and Actonville Spurs on October 30 to end their Eastern T20 Premier League Pool B round-robin campaign unbeaten.

In the first game against Spurs CC, the on-form Vaughn Humphrey led the onslaught with 87 not out from 42 balls. Rian van der Merwe ably assisted the star man with 19 not out.

Humphrey’s prowess with the bat has thus far yielded 238 runs at an average of 79.33 in the competition.
Wayne Minaar cracked on with the ball, claiming four scalps from 11 runs.

In the second game, they beat familiar foes, Old Bens to end on five wins and a draw from six games. They, along with CBC Old Boys, are the only two sides with clean records in Pool B.

Actonville Spurs

After their loss to Northerns, Actonville Spurs made light work of Avion Park, winning by eight wickets.

With the skies clear, Spurs won the toss and elected to bowl, restricting the Kempton Park side to 141/6 in their 20 overs.

Spurs’ innings were driven by Abid Turky’s match-winning 88 not out and Saahil Khan’s 32 that guided their team to an eight wicket win.

The club ended their group phase campaign with four wins and two losses from their six games.
