Young players off to Spain
They will play friendly matches against some Spanish Laliga clubs.
The SuperSport United U11 academy players have been invited to take part in the Futebol Promesas Andaluzas tournament in Spain from November 28 to December 10.
The players train at Global Soccer Schools International (previously known as the SuperSport United Soccer Schools).
Ten of the 14 travelling players are from the East Rand and Johannesburg south.
According to coach Ryan MacFarlane, this is a great honour for their club, soccer schools and the country.
“Seeing these students excelling in the academy space makes us as coaches at the soccer school extremely proud. This is a special group of boys and they literally live for football.
“These boys play an attractive game of football and we believe that in their age group they can compete with the best teams in the world,” MacFarlane said.
The team will also play friendly matches against some of the top Spanish Laliga teams outside of the tournament.
MacFarlane, who also coaches at the Benoni Country Club, added that this is good opportunity for some of these players as they have been part of the club from the age of three.
“At Global Soccer Schools, this where players are made and if this group of boys are anything to go by, then they are certainly living up to that expectation.”
