Students claim medals during championship

“Our next event is the Shihan Championship, which is our second biggest competition. I’m looking forward to having more of our students take part in this event."

The Tenshinkan Karate Benoni dojo students achieved great results during the Mpumalanga Championships held in Nigel last month.

The students returned with nine medals with Peace Ilunga and Dante Lucas returning with two gold medals won in both kumite and kata.

Krysten Wardill won a gold in kata and silver in kumite, while Brandon Wardill returned with two bronze medals in both disciplines.

Lionel Rundle won a bronze in kumite, for a total of five golds, one silver and three bronze medals for the dojo.

Sensei Shihan-dai Catherine Venter was pleased with how her top students performed during the event.

“Our next event is the Shihan Championship, which is our second biggest competition. I’m looking forward to having more of our students take part in this event,” said Venter.
