Another sinkhole on Tom Jones Street
Tom Jones Street is the scene of another sinkhole as one emerged on the corners of Tom Jones and Ampthill Avenue.
The sinkhole is almost a metre in diameter and the road has been closed to traffic from Prince’s Avenue to Ampthill Avenue.
The road was cordoned off yesterday afternoon shortly after a car drove into the hole.
According to Ekurhuleni emergency services spokesperson Roggers Mamaila, his department has notified the council’s communication department of the hole.
He is not sure if engineers have assessed the damage yet.
Mamaila said the road between Prince’s and Ampthill avenues is expect to be closed until repair work has been completed.
Tom Jones Street became a cause for concern after sinkholes started developing on parts of the road in November, last year.
