It’s 9am and all is well

Peter Bachtis writes by email:

Wednesday mornings at the Ekurhuleni offices in downtown Benoni reflects the strong work ethic displayed by all its employees.

Visitors will not be permitted into the rates hall, or any of the offices as important meetings are supposedly being held by these hard working individuals until 9am sharp.

Opening one minute before 9am would create turbulence among the staffers, as long queues form outside the building doors.

Irate residents curse under their breath, as the queues get longer and longer.

But wait, under a recessed “afdak”, a number of these staffers are seen feeding their insatiable lust for cigarettes, among the bird poop which had not been cleaned, no doubt because the cleaning staff were having their own smoke break meeting.

Come now Mr Mayor, whilst meetings are sometimes important, schedule them after hours.

Or get your staff in at 7am and be ready by 8.30am.

Opening at 9am is inconvenient and unnecessary.
