Delightful meal at new Ocean Basket

When I was asked to eat at the new Ocean Basket at Lakefield Square, I was delighted.

My favourite foods are fish and seafood and Ocean Basket is synonymous with that and hence one of my preferred franchises and eating out spots.

From the easy welcome by manager Kwame Yinkah, to the attentive service from Louise Punungwe, to the friendly greeting and chat from mine host Andrew Demosthenous and manager George Hanioako, my guest Nicolette Geyer and I were well looked after and well fed.

The Lakefield Ocean Basket opened in October last year and caters for all the usual Ocean Basket specialities from prawns to fish and sushi (including the new on the menu MedittAsian treats).

Nicolette and I had a lot of catching up to do and Louise patiently waited for our order, and kept up the supply of ice for our drinks.

We finally settled on grilled halloumi for me and the Kypro prawn rolls of the MedittAsian sushi menu for Nicolette … both were delicious and set our taste buds up for our mains.

I opted for a platter for one which was comprised of three mussels, six prince prawns, fish (freshwater basa or pangasius), calamari and calamari heads with butternut and spinach — delicious.

Nicolette chose the prawns special of 12 prince prawns served with stirfried vegetables which she polished off with gusto.

Not much room left, but just had to share baklava and cream to round off the meal.

Thoroughly enjoyed the meal which was enhanced by the attentive but not intrusive service from Louise whose watchful eye ensured a plentiful supply of ice, whose advice “fried squid heads taste better than grilled” and whose attention to detail “I’ve put a fresh wedge of lemon in your doggie/human bag” added the cherry on top to a very pleasant meal and relaxing afternoon.
