Local musos make 5FM
A young producer and deejay is finally seeing the results of his hard work.
Ilyas Dawood, better known as A7rium, started producing music at the age of 15 from his cellphone.
Now the 19-year-old has a single called Your Love featuring local producer Jack Freakz, which is finally playing on 5FM.
He said he and Jack Freakz shared the same dream of making music and this wasn’t the first time they collaborated, but it was the first track that put their names on the map.
Dawood said his style of music can’t be described as one genre, as he fuses melodic progressive vibes, with deep groovy bass lines and hard-hitting loops that leave their impact on your ears, mind and soul.
When asked what inspired his love for music, he said: “I am inspired by everyday life and I express my emotions through my music.
“I think music has a beautiful way of replicating a feeling into something special.”
The former Liverpool Secondary School learner is the co-founder of SonicBass Records, which was founded in 2014.
The Actonville resident has big dreams, but also faces challenges in reality, especially being recognised in the entertainment industry.
“The music industry is niche, so you have to work hard to get your name out there,” he said.
“There are a lot of young, promising artists and producers all fighting to make it in this industry.
Sometimes it’s about who you know rather than what you can do.”
And his love for music and support from his family will remain his motivation.
He added that he dreams of seeing himself on billboards, being announced as a chart topper on radio and being well known in the industry.
