Don’t miss The Musical Adventures of Pocahontas

Only two weeks left to catch this amazing production.

The latest offering from Protea Stage Productions, The Musical Adventures of Pocahontas, debuted at Tom Newby School on the evening of May 25 to a full house.

“Many guests were invited, including Caxton Radio Benoni’s Paul Rotherham and many former Protea members,” said vice chairperson Michael Bronwhill.

“The show, as the title suggests, contains many musical numbers, including favourites like Just Around the Riverbed, Mine, Mine, Mine and Colours of the Wind, along with a few surprises also slotted in.”

With a cast of more than 40 members, Protea stepped up yet again to entertain guests with outspoken characters, immaculate costumes and dazzling light and sound effects.

“The costumes, designed and made by Louise Bratherton, perfectly captured each and every characters’ personality,” Brownhill said.

The production team members – Michael Brownhill, Kristen Lomas, Emily Heath and Juan Oosthuizen – have been working with the cast for the past four months to ensure the show runs smoothly until the final curtain on June 10.

There were several memorable performances, including those of Dominique Tucker (Pocahontas), Jamie Truby (John Smith), Michael Lomas (Governor Radcliffe) and Juan Oosthuizen (Wiggins).

The set is simple yet highly effective and the scene changes went smoothly on opening night.

The lighting added a special extra effect which allowed the audience to become a part of the story.

Don’t miss out on this performance which will take place every Friday at 7.30pm and at 2.30pm on Saturdays and Sundays until June 10.

Tickets are available at the door but to pre-book for reserved seating, email tickets@proteastage.org.za or contact Carole Worrell on 083 660 2936.

Own food and drinks are welcome in the venue, however, snacks are also on sale.
