Cantare Jubiloso Choir tunes into your heart
Benoni's Cantare Jubiloso Choir and Noteworthy Events will set the tone at Kruishoutklanke in Pretoria on April 17.
The City Times caught up with Lanie Coetzer (marketing and logistics) and Gideon Els (choirmaster) about the choir, which is based in Rynfield.
“Cantare Jubiloso Choir is an adult, auditioned concert choir made up of choristers from the East Rand and surrounds with their home base in Benoni,” they explained.

Cantare Jubiloso Choir originated from a church choir under Gideon and was established in 2014 as a concert choir by Gideon and Lanie.
The choir is still co-managed by Gideon and Lanie, who are also partners in Noteworthy Events.
Although it is not a professional choir, Lanie and Gideon said they have proven themselves to be a choral group with a unique sound and flair to push boundaries.
“The choir boasts with an extensive repertoire consisting of both sacred and secular works.
“While they work hard – preparing up to four different concert programmes annually – they remain a ‘musical family’ with a great collective sense of humour.
“The fact that they work with professional musicians in almost all of their performances makes for a unique and professional listening experience.”
The choir, consisting of over 40 members, aims to instal and share an appreciation for choral, classical and contemporary music among young and old.
“Kruishoutklanke is very near and dear to our hearts as it is a fantastic listening and visual experience,” the duo explained.
“We performed this two years ago to great acclaim and this is the one musical performance where not only the audience but the whole choir as well are taken on an emotional journey associated with Easter.
“Our experience last time was that people were touched and moved very deeply by this and we can only imagine how it will be on April 17 when we perform this with a professional symphony orchestra (the Noteworthy Concert orchestra).”
The choir is always looking for new enthusiastic and passionate members to join them.

They rehearse every Tuesday evening from 7pm to 9pm at the Reformed Church, Benoryn, near Linmed Hospital, with special additional rehearsals close to each concert.
