Gallops meet punters, fashionistas to ignite Greyville racecourse
The Hollywoodbets Durban July 2026 came, and left winners, funchasers, and observers smiling from ear to ear.
All eyes on Saturday were at the Hollywoodbets Greyville Racecourse, glued to either the memserising fashion or the bolting horses.
By the end of the main race, it was the three-year-old thoroughbred, Note To Self, who claimed victory at the gallops.

The winning jockey, Richard Fourie, was ecstatic. “I blacked out at the top of the straight. There’s no better feeling than winning it the first time, but today’s win is a great feeling. Just doing it in front of the HWB Greyville crowd is such a rush. I can’t explain the sound when everybody is shouting at you in the middle. It’s like being in a canyon. It was just a lovely race, and the win was as sweet as it can be,” Fourie said.
As the fashion theme of the race, Country Allure, came to life, fashinistas and racegoers left nothing to chance.

The Country Allure theme produced winning fashion moments, and the vibrant spirit of South African style was on full display.
The annual Raceday Fashion Awards, open to the general public, attracted 150 stylish entrants, all hoping to impress the judges. The Classic Female winner was Gistine Kifubula, who wore a Nqobisa Ndabeni design that epitomised classic Country Allure in deference to the official race day theme.

Richard Tulinatbitu took first prize for Classic Male with his striking earth-toned ensemble of brown jacket with matching wide-leg trousers that blended contemporary tailoring with traditional African-inspired craftsmanship.
Young Designers showcased their talent. There were scenes of jubilation, emotional embraces and tears of happiness as Mlungisi Ndlovu from DUT was named winner of this year’s Young Designer Award sponsored by Metro FM.
