Taxi driver nabbed for alleged drunk driving

A taxi driver is behind bars after he was nabbed for alleged drunk driving in the Market Triangle.

During a morning Vehicle Check Point operation on Julius Nyerere Road near Clermont Taxi Rank, the Durban Metro Police’s Strike Team members reportedly stopped and searched a minibus after they found the driver’s behaviour suspicious.

Durban Metro Police Service spokesperson, Colonel Boysie Zungu, said, “The driver was escorted to the alcohol testing centre at Bosch Hoek Police Station, where an evidential breath alcohol test recorded 0.54 mg per 1000 litres of breath, exceeding the legal limit.
