Florida Road UIP celebrated Mandela Day by giving back to those in need on Saturday, honouring the legacy of the late former president Nelson Mandela.

The UIP joined forces with community members and local businesses to transform the outdoor space at Lazarus House, a safe haven for abused women and children.

Florida Road UIP PR and marketing manager Jessie Shane described the initiative as a resounding success, with volunteers, local businesses and generous community members working together to transform an unused outdoor area into “a beautiful, welcoming garden space”.

“The makeover has provided residents with a peaceful environment where they can relax, reflect and enjoy nature,” said Shane.

She praised the generosity of sponsors, volunteers and partners who donated their time, skills and resources.

“It is a wonderful example of what can be achieved when a community works together to make a meaningful difference.

“The Florida Road UIP extends its sincere thanks to everyone who contributed to the project. Together, we have created something that will have a lasting impact on the residents of Lazarus House and serves as a fitting tribute to the spirit of Mandela Day.”

The initiative was warmly received by the team at Lazarus House, who thanked Florida Road UIP and the volunteers for creating a warm and welcoming outdoor space for vulnerable women and children.
