DURBAN Prep has embraced the Children’s Rhino Art Competition project which is aimed at increasing awareness among children throughout the country about the plight facing endangered rhinos.
This project has been jointly initiated by the KZN Rhino Project and the Kingsley Holgate Foundation. Legendary explorer, Kingsley Holgate visited Durban Prep last Monday to talk to the boys. All the boys were enthralled and captivated by the big man’s address and horrified to learn that to date more than 550 rhinos had been killed this year alone.
Each boy at DPHS has been given an A3 sheet and rhino outline and tasked with creating his own piece of art and accompanying slogan. Already some exceptional works have been created and new and increased awareness of the plight of these animals has been engendered.
