Berea cops support wellness day

Berea police enjoyed the special attention from service providers as part of the Wellness Day last Friday.

POLICE at Berea SAPS were treated to a wellness day at the station on Friday, 6 September.

Communications officer Lieutenant PN Naidoo said the Durban Central Cluster’s Employee Health and Wellness department organised the wellness day which began with a nutritional talk before service providers GEMS nurses, Herbalife and Eye Wellness Clinic KZN began tests.

“Wellness days are happening throughout the various police stations offering services such as blood sugar and cholesterol tests, BMI, HCT (HIV Counselling and Testing) and blood pressure tests. We hold them to sensitize members about the importance of being healthy and how maintaining a healthy lifestyle contributes to us being able to do a good job,” said Naidoo.

The testing started early in the morning and the service providers were available throughout the day to ensure all members working in the station as well as those on shift out in the field would be able to participate.

“An incentive was a 15 minute neck and shoulder massage for all members that participated and completed all the tests. It was a great success, members were quite keen on getting healthy and really appreciated the support from the service providers. We extend our thanks to them,” Naidoo added.
