Calling Durban’s talented
Showcase your talent at the uShaka Marine World Search for the Stars auditions happening this weekend.
CALLING all talented performers – the uShaka Marine World Search for the Stars Durban auditions continue this weekend, in association with Vodacom and sponsored by the Department of Arts and Culture.
The head judge, Wayne Scott, also known as the “Simon Cowell” of uShaka, says all concerned are still looking forward to seeing and hearing what performers have in store for them.
uShaka Search For The Stars is open to both amateur and professional artists and not only includes singers (Hip Hop, Kwaito, wedding singers) and dancers (Sotho dancers, Tin dancers, Gumboots), but also invites mime artists, bands, magicians, jugglers, and acrobats – you name it.
However, uShaka Search for the Stars excludes the following acts: Poetry, Drama, Maskandi and Isicathamiya. Both individuals and groups are invited to audition for the following four audition dates which are listed below:
The Durban auditions take place on Saturday, 21 September and Sunday, 22 September and will be held at the main entrance at uShaka Marine World from 9am. The regional auditions are on Saturday, 28 September in Sisonke at the Sairview Hall, Ward 4 (Ixopo) and on Sunday, 29 September in Zululand at the Indonsa Art Centre in Ulundi
Having auditioned over 10,000 performers over the past six years and created 2,500 jobs, Scott says “We look forward to seeing more talented performers share their magic during the busy holiday season,” Wayne Scott will direct the entertainment team that will include these competition winners.
The finals are scheduled to take place on Saturday, 19 October at uShaka Marine World at 9am. For more information about the auditions, contact Nombuso Buthelezi on 031 328 8103 / 8008 or email her on nbuthelezi@ushakamarineworld.co.za
