Running for charity
Race for Charity and help better the lives of children in KZN.
ANTONY Clapham is running the Comrades Marathon this year for a good cause.
Antony has signed up to Race for Charity, and will be raising funds for the Community Chest.
The Durban-born athlete is the great grandson of Vic Clapham, the founder of the Comrades Marathon, and this will be his third Comrades.
“Last year I lived in Pietermaritzburg and my link with Red Sock Friday threw me together with a group of runners supporting Community Chest. When I moved back to Durban I decided to keep with the ‘family’ and carry on supporting the organisation.
The Race for Charity initiative includes runners signing up and having pledges made by family and friends which go to the Amabeadibeadi charities.
In choosing the Community Chest as the charity of choice, runners are contributing to the better development of more than 6000 children being helped at 22 creches and ECDs in the Durban and Coastal and Midlands areas of KwaZulu-Natal.
Runners need to register, raise R5 000 for Community Chest and qualify to start the race in a special seeding batch.
Red Sock Friday is a movement dedicated to making a difference, being passionate, inspiring others and being inspired, staying positive, remembering friends and expressing yourself. It is a journey, a sentiment, a cause, a statement and a tribute.
Antony and many other runners will take to the road for the Comrades marathon and carry on this legacy.
