An evening of Salsa
The vibe of Salsa music and theatre come together at Rhumbelow Theatre.
RHUMBELOW Theatre presents La Esencia del Salsa! (The Essence of Salsa), a Manteca Salsa and Afro-Cuban Band, from Friday 21 March at 8pm to Sunday 23 March at 6.30pm and Friday 28 March at 8pm to Sunday 30 March, with shows at 2pm and 6.30pm.
Enjoy a show where vibrant live music, energetic dance and intimate theatre come together to tell the story of Salsa: worldwide multi-cultural phenomenon, expression of integration and the struggle for freedom. From the courts of King Louis XIV to the plantation slaves of the Caribbean to the dance halls of New York and the world, prepare to be entertained by rootsy Cuban folklore, European art music with an African twist, swinging Latin Jazz, and explosive salsa, all performed by Manteca, Durbans own premier 11 piece Afro Caribbean band.
The venue opens 90 minutes earlier for a picnic dinner. Braais will be available should you wish to cook some meat. A bar is available. No alcohol may be brought onto the premises.
Cost is R120 a ticket and R100 for pensioners and tables of eight or more.
