BEREA police encourage the public to be more vigilant with their belongings after numerous cases of theft out of motor vehicles have been reported.
“We are finding incidents were expensive property is being stolen, which means the public is still leaving valuables in vehicles,” said Lieutenant PN Naidoo of Berea SAPS.
Naidoo said the people should protect their property and if possible, park cars in complexes and not on the road. “This prevents the theft of and out of motor vehicles.
“Prevent housebreakings by not leaving windows opened at night as this could be an opportunity for a thief to come in. Please secure all doors and windows and activate the alarms at all times as sometimes people forget to put on alarms,” he advised.
