Umbilo SAPS officers made some good arrests over the past week.

Possession of dagga

Umbilo SAPS arrested a man on 17 August for possession of dagga.

Constable G Zwezwe and his crew were patrolling when they noticed a man walking along Dalton Road carrying a back pack.

Upon searching the suspect they found 10 parcels of dagga inside the back pack valued at R300.

Guard arrests thief

Umbilo SAPS arrested a man on 17 August for theft in J B Marks Road.

The complainant, a security guard, was on duty and searching the man. He found in his possession, three cans of air freshener, cookies, two pies, five pieces of steak, total value of R200. The officers responded to the complaint and arrested and detained the man for theft.

Possession of suspected stolen goods

A man was arrested on 18 August for being in possession of suspected stolen goods.

Constable S D Vezi and his crew were on duty performing crime prevention duties when they noticed a man pushing a Woolworths trolley.

They questioned him as to where and how he got the trolley and he gave an explanation that raised suspicion that the trolley was stolen.

The officers took the man with the trolley to the store and the man was arrested and detained for theft.

Theft out of motor vehicle

A man was arrested on 18 August for theft out of a motor vehicle.

The complainant had parked his vehicle and locked it. Inside the car was property valued at R6000.

The thief stole a drill machine, big angle grinder and a small angle grinder and ran off. He was seen and caught by a witness. The complainant heard a noise and went to investigate and discovered that the thief had his property.

The complainant apprehended the thief and took him to the Umbilo police station, where he was detained for theft out of motor vehicle.
