Feral kittens need a home

A Durban woman is searching for a loving home for two stray kittens.

TWO kitten are in desperate need of a loving home.

Alison Ferreira has been feeding an adult feral cat in the parking garage at her block of flats in Sandile Thusi Road for about a year and has tried, with the help of Doug Thorpe-Fairall at Feral Cat Rescue, to trap, spay and release the cat back into its environment.

“The problem is she has had two kittens that are about three months old. We live in a 'no pets' building and unfortunately the body corporate wants them gone as soon as possible, so I am at my wits end as to what to do with them,” said Alison.

One kitten is a black and white male and the other is a pure black female.

“My neighbour has named them “Black and Decker”! They hang around on the first floor of our building and my neighbor and I sometimes let them into our flats. They are so desperate for a loving home and are so cute. I have tried everything and all the relevant animal organisations to find them a home and have a whole bunch of people that are looking out as well,” she said.

Alison said the kittens would have to go together to a home.

“The male is tame but his sister won’t let anyone touch her yet and she is really reliant on her brother. It would have to be a special home and there shouldn’t be any dogs. They would have to be kept indoors for a while so that they don’t run away. We urgently need a home for them. I refuse to see them euthanised,” said Alison.
