BEREA police officers recovered sound equipment after a theft in Morningside in the early hours of the morning on 11 September.
According to Lieutenant PN Naidoo, Communication Officer at Berea SAPS, police were patrolling along Fourth Avenue in Morningside when they noticed a suspicious man walking along carrying a packet at around one 'o clock in the morning.
“They stopped and searched the man and his packet and found an amplifier, CD player, speakers and CDs as well as car breaking implements including a crowbar and screwdriver,” he explained.
Naidoo said after questioning the suspect he showed the police where he had broken into a vehicle parked on Montpelier Road.
When police informed the owner of the vehicle he was shocked as it was after midnight and he did not even know that his car had been broken into, but identified his property. “The 25-year-old suspect was charged for theft out of motor vehicle and for being in possession of car breaking and housebreaking implements and detained at Berea SAPS,” concluded Naidoo.
