Chase ends in crash

A driver smashed into another vehicle following a high speed chase with the police on Saturday night.

A HIGH speed chase between the police and a man involved in a suspected drug deal ended in a collision at the intersection of King Dinuzulu (Berea) and Cleaver Roads on Saturday night.

According to Heather Rorick, the Bulwer Community Safety Forum team was on patrol when they saw a drug deal going down. They called 10111 to report it but fortunately came across a member of the Flying Squad who followed them back to where the drug deal took place.

“As SAPS approached the suspected car the driver refused to co-operate by opening up his door or window to talk to them. He suddenly sped off and a chase ensued through Warwick Avenue and back into Berea,” she said.

The driver went through a red robot and collided with another vehicle. The driver of the other vehicle was taken to hospital and the suspect was apprehended by police.

“By the time they searched his car they could not find any other drugs,” said Rorick.
