Wanted vehicle recovered
BEREA police who were patrolling along Musgrave Road last Tuesday morning noticed a grey VW Jetta parked on the side of the road with two suspicious men sitting inside the vehicle.
According to Berea SAPS communications officer, Lieutenant PN Naidoo, the efficient policemen checked the vehicle’s ownership through the radio control and it did not match the description of the vehicle. “On further investigation it was established that the vehicle was a wanted vehicle. The suspects were approached and arrested for being in possession of suspected stolen property. The two are approximately 23 years old and were detained at Berea SAPS.
Cellphone recovered
A 22-year-old man was arrested on robbery charges by Berea police last Wednesday evening.
According to Lt PN Naidoo, police were patrolling along Botanic Gardens Road near the bridge when they were approached by another policeman who asked for assistance to arrest a suspect who had just robbed someone. “They helped and the suspect was apprehended and the property was recovered,” Naidoo said.
Luggage recovered
On Thursday morning vigilant Berea police members stopped a suspicious man who had been dragging suitcases along a Morningside Road, from getting away with a housebreaking.
“Captain Steven and his members were patrolling along Rorvik Road when they noticed the suspicuos man pulling two suitcases with airport tags still attached,” explained Lt PN Naidoo.
The officers stopped and searched the man and noticed that the suitcases belonged to someone living in Lancaster Road on the Berea. “On further investigation the suspect showed the police the home where he had broken in and he was charged for housebreaking and theft.
Be crime aware
Lt PN Naidoo wishes to warn the public to be more vigilant in the Venice Road area. “Do not take people for granted, not all people wearing car guard bibs are actually car guards, some could be criminals posing as car guards waiting for an opportunity to commit crimes,” he warned.
