Drug arrest

UMBILO SAPS arrested a man on 29 September in Canberra Road for being in possession of heroin

The officers were on duty when they stopped and searched the man. They found a parcel of heroin valued at R30 wrapped in clear plastic in his pocket.

The accused was arrested for possession of heroin.

Common robbery

ON 27 September around 10.30pm, a man was driving up King Dinuzulu Road and stopped at a red robot. A white Quantum pulled over and a man jumped out and asked the victim for a cigarette lighter. When he said he didn't smoke, the man asked why he had answered so rudely and opened the driver's door, pulling out the victim. He took the man's wallet with cash from his back pocket. The man's friends got out of the Quantum and beat up the victim.

Umbilo SAPS officers responded to a complaint and rushed to the scene and arrested attacker. A case of common robbery is being investigated.

Theft general

UMBILO SAPS arrested three men on 28 September for theft general. As alleged by the employer, the men stole stock valued at R56 115 from the warehouse and changed the locks without informing him.

Umbilo SAPS arrested a man for stealing three remote batteries valued at R900 at Z K Mathews Road on 29 September.

While Constable Khambule was on duty he received a complaint from radio control that a man was stealing the batteries. He went to investigate and on arrival the suspect was found at the scene stealing the batteries.

The case is under investigation.

Theft out of motor vehicle

TWO men were arrested in Helen Joseph Road. A woman parked her motor vehicle with all the doors and windows closed. On return to her vehicle she noticed her handbag with cash valued at R1 1 00 had been stolen. Witnesses told her they had seen two men forcing the door open and stealing the property. They had jumped into a VW Polo and drove off. They gave a registration number to the police. Investigation by a detective led to the arrest of the suspects. The case is under investigation.
