Thieves strip empty property

Thieves vandalised a property in Clark Grove which had been empty for a week.

A PROPERTY in Clark Grove was vandalised, after being left empty for a few days last week.

Bulwer Community Safety Forum chairperson, Heather Rorick, was called to the house on Friday, to find thieves had broken in, stripping the property of wiring and cables, as well as glass from the windows.

Students who had been staying in the house had moved out the previous week to make way for a business which will be opening soon. The property had been locked up on Friday 10 October. A week later, on Friday 17 October, the estate agent and cleaners arrived at the property to discover the property had been broken into and vandalised. The granny flat was totally ransacked and the kitchen in the main house was completely stripped of the sink, eye level oven, the light fitting and wiring. The stove was left in the lounge, and Rorick believes the thieves may have been planning on returning to strip the property further.
