Lucky escape for motorist

A woman was lucky to get away from housebreakers who tried to hijack her car.

A MOTORIST was lucky to escape unscathed after a gang of housebreakers on the run attempted to hijack her of her BMW as they fled the scene of the crime.

Blue Security operations manager Brian Jackson said the woman was lucky to escape after two men who were fleeing the scene of an attempted housebreaking in Bellvue Road attempted to hijack her last Wednesday.

“A resident in Bellvue Road pressed her panic button when she heard a loud bang and then noticed that two housebreakers had already forced open the front door of the property. The housebreakers must have gotten a fright and fled the scene in a silver VW Polo. The motorist who was driving past became their next victim as the men stopped her and unsuccessfully tried to pull her out of her car,” he said.

Jackson said the gang fled with stolen car keys and house keys. The Berea SAPS attended the scene of the crime.

In a separate incident a domestic worker’s girlfriend was robbed of her cellphone at 1.30pm on Saturday when an intruder armed with a knife entered his domestic quarters at a property in Clarke Road. The man held up the couple and fled with a cellphone.
