BEREA police embarked on a crime information drive to mark the 16 Days of Activism for no violence Against Women and Children.
The women staff members with some male officers led by Captain Bonisiwe Khanyile distributed pamphlets addressing crime affecting women and chatted to women at various shopping centres in the Berea policing area.
Captain Khanyile said they distributed pamphlets about general safety and spoke to women about issues of domestic violence and child abuse at Musgrave Centre and The Atrium (Overport City). “Over the two weeks we also joined the staff members at DUT in a demonstration at the corner of Centenary and Sydenham Roads where we held posters against violence towards women and children and asked the public to speak out against gender violence,” Khanyile added.
