Criminals invade homes

Venice Neighbourhood Watch has reported three home invasions in Morningside since 1 January.

TWO crime incidents have taken place in Morningside since the new year.

On 1 January, a family living in Lambert Road were held up by three men at 5.30pm.

The men arrived at the home in a black BMW X5 with false number plates. They forced open the gate, beat up the owners, a man and woman and stole their possessions.

ADT were alerted when the owner pressed the panic button and the men fled.

On 5 January, the owner of a home in Trematon Drive arrived home just after 2pm, to find the gate forced open and a suspicious vehicle in the drive way, a navy blue three series BMW.

The owner left the house and phoned Chubb. Shots were fired and the car sped away. The gardener was beaten up in the incident.

There has also been another house attack as well as a car stolen in the area since 1 January.

Blue Security and Chubb will be studying camera footage to see if they can piece together these crimes.

According to the Venice Neighbourhood Watch, it looks like criminals are determined to find a way into properties, even with electric fences. They appear to force gates open and gain entry. Residents are urged to take precautions.
