BEREA police station's Community Service Centre has been flooded with students desperate to get last minute documents certified for university registration deadlines.
According to Lieutenant PN Naidoo, the station has had an influx of students who have come through to have documents certified over the past week.
“We would like to inform the public that certification is also done at the various Post Offices so you can also use them instead of all queuing at the police stations. It will assist us if some could use other certification offices,” he said.
Meanwhile, students eager to get their registration papers in order were happy to come in early and have it done at Berea SAPS. “I'm glad I came to the police station. The officers are very helpful and after a bit of a queue I'm all done,” Sixolile Danisa, who hopes to study Office management and technology at DUT said.
Smangele Mbuyazi said she went to DUT to assist her sister to register but some of the forms were not certified. “I'm happy that police station was close so I could walk up and quickly get them certified. It was quick and efficient,” she added.
Lieutenant Naidoo reminded students that the station did not have staplers and photocopying machines and advised them to bring copies of the documents and pens when coming to certify.
