CPF to engage with residents

The Umbilo CPF is encouraging the community to share thoughts on what issues the forum should tackle this year.

THE Umbilo Community Policing Forum (CPF) is urging the community to get involved in fighting crime in the area this year, and encourages residents to attend it first monthly meeting of the year on 19 February at Penzance Primary School at 6pm.

According to Umbilo CPF PRO, Thabo Kadikadi, as the CPF has been established for a while there is a plan to have an AGM on 19 March (venue to be confirmed) so residents could see what was being done to fight crime.

At the AGM, the CPF will be reporting back on challenges and achievements, and the CPF encourages input from residents on issues to tackle going forward. This will be a very important meeting, aiming to enhance their future efforts.

At the meeting next month the SAPS would report back on crime during the festive season, how it was dealt with, how the station performed and what the challenges were.

Last year the CPF focused on discouraging people from buying stolen goods, and this year the CPF will be encouraging residents to put forward ideas about what they feel the CPF should focus on. Tips on how to prevent hijackings and house break-ins are on the meeting agenda. The CPF would like people to share what they envisage the CPF doing and being going forward, and what issues the CPF should tackle.
