Resident wins travel award

Durban travel fundi, Kuben Moodley, recently won an award in the ASATA Diners Club Awards.

GLENWOOD resident, Kuben Moodley, won the category of Wholesale Consultant in the prestigious travel awards, the ASATA Diners Club Awards 2014, recently.

Kuben, who works at Thompsons Holidays in Durban, said: “Every day is new – new challenges, new people, it never gets boring! It’s stressful, it’s fun, there’s never a dull day. And making dreams a reality – that’s just a bonus!”

Kuben has been in the industry for 14 years and believes that every day is a goal, a goal to be the best you possibly can be.

He said highlights of his career have been the many travel experiences he has been blessed with and the amazing people he has met over the years.

“The industry has quite literally changed my life and my values, and allows me to strive for greatness,” he said.

Kuben’s favourite travel destinations are Cape Town and Thailand and his favourite type of getaways are to the beach and the city.

He said he lives and breathes travel, and his most important piece of travel advice would be to make sure to double-check everything.

His days are always a mad rush, starting at 6am.

“I do five things at once, screaming, crying, laughing. It’s amazing how many emotions you can feel in one day. My number one tip on what it takes to be successful in the travel industry is to love what you do,” he said.

Kuben said his family was his rock and pillar of strength.

“My partner of six years, Jonathan Hudson means everything to me. I would be lost without them all,” he said.
