Buy bricks for charity

RESIDENTS are encouraged to buy some bricks at a price of R100 to assist the Sizanani Centre with its building fund.

This includes funds for building materials and the builders, and the centre is trying to sell 10 000 bricks.

“We would like to build our own premises. The building would have a dining room and a kitchen where we can feed the school children and the patients making use of the feeding scheme we run at the above premises. We would also like to add some accommodation for the resident cook and cleaner. Your support in purchasing some of the bricks will not only help us to reach our goal in supplying these children and patients with something to eat, but will also assist us in creating work opportunity for two people and a clean environment in which they can enjoy their meals and everyone that will make use of this facility will be very grateful,” said Juanita Davis, fundraiser at Sizanani.

Sizanani Centre is a feeding scheme where children that do have no means of getting any meal during the day are fed. They are mainly orphans and a lot of the households are so poor that they are only able to supply a meal in two to three days.

“We found that the children are unable to cope at school due to the lack of nutrition. We also have a clinic on the premises that supply patients with their medication for TB and HIV/AIDS but due to the hunger amongst these patients they are unable to take their medication and therefore we are going to try and supply them with a meal while they are at the clinic,” she said.

Should there be a surplus of food prepared on a given day this is sent home with either the children or the patients so they will be able to feed any one left at home so that no one will go hungry.
