Emergency service staff ordered back to work
The Department of Health was granted an urgent interim Labour Court interdict ordering all emergency medical service staff to immediately return to work.
THE KwaZulu-Natal Department of Health was granted an urgent interim interdict in the Labour Court on Thursday, ordering all Emergency Medical Services personnel who have stayed away from work to return to work with immediate effect.
“The strike action, which the respondents have embarked on since 31 March 2015, is declared unlawful and unprotected,” said Health Department spokesman, Sam Mkhwanazi.
Mkhwanazi added that the emergency personnel are interdicted from participating in, promoting, or inciting such unlawful strike action. “The respondents should comply with the conditions of employment with immediate effect,” he concluded.
