BEREA police are mourning the loss of Warrant officer PT “Nolan” Naidoo, who died on Monday. He had been ill.
According to Colonel DV Pillay, acting station commander at Berea police station, the news came as a shock despite the fact that WO Naidoo had been on sick leave for more than a month. “We believe Warrant Officer Naidoo had breathing problems and collapsed at his Overport home,” said Pillay.
Warrant Officer Nolan Naidoo was a well known officer who worked as the Communications Officer for some time, closely interacting with the community, before being part of the Visible Policing Unit at Berea SAPS.
“He was a very humble man and police officer who was noted for his humility, personality and high discipline.
As a very tactful and helpful person, who went out of his way to assist the people of Berea as well as his fellow members. Warrant Officer Naidoo was an asset to Berea SAPS and his absence will be felt by all,” added Colonel Pillay.
Warrant Officer Naidoo started his career in 1990 at Mayville SAPS as a constable and was later transferred to the Human Resources and then Visible Policing units before being transferred to Berea SAPS in 1999. Later that year he joined the Durban Central Flying Squad but returned to Berea police from 1 December 2000 to date where he served at the Communications, Detective and Vispol units of Berea SAPS.
Naidoo was married to Warrant Officer Nicky Naidoo who is also a member at Berea SAPS. His funeral will be held on Friday, 10 April at Doves Funeral Services, on Fynn Road, Greyville from 10am.
